Our Pattern

Word-Equipping Seminars: Memorize, Meditate, Proclaim

We recognize the unique ways in which the Lord uses each of us to share the Gospel and live as fishers of men. We don’t teach a specific evangelical technique or model; instead, we aim to foster transformative times of Word engagement that lead to Spirit empowered proclamation. That is, we desire to equip and mobilize people for Gospel proclamation through daily dependence on God and His Word.

   Memorizing the Word of God

   In an age of information overload and declining biblical literacy, memorizing God's Word requires a shift away from constant activity and toward extended periods of quiet. We highlight the importance of memorizing longer narrative portions from the Gospels and Epistles that depict the life of Yeshua and His identity as Savior. These “stories” are living and active. Daily memorization of God's Word is a foundational spiritual discipline that is needed more than ever. We are building a library of Gospel texts in our hearts that the Holy Spirit can bring to mind as we speak with others.

   Meditating on the Word of God

   In Hebrew “meditate” means to give serious thought and consideration to a subject and can imply quietly repeating a text. Yeshua provided a clear example of retreating to communion with His Father as preparation for intense ministry. Meditation on God's Word is an invitation to deepen our relationship with God, which, by His grace, will lead to transformation. We must allow the Word to shape us: to renew our minds, guide our desires, develop Christlike character, and produce the spiritual boldness and power needed to proclaim the Gospel.

   Proclaiming the Word of God through conversations

   Proclaiming the Gospel is first and foremost a command: “Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15 Moreover, Gospel proclamation is the fruit of transformation and conformity to Christ; it is the natural outworking of memorizing and meditating on the Word. When we feed on God's Word daily, we “shall speak of” His Word in our homes with our families and on the streets with strangers. This includes sharing extended narrative passages that emphasize: the life of Yeshua (His authority, miracles, teachings); His identity as Savior (His incarnation, atoning death, resurrection, and return); and the call to repentance and faith.

Sometimes we share passages word-for-word; other times, we paraphrase them. The various giftings and personality of each disciple, along with the specific audience, shape how the Word is delivered. Oral proclamation of the Word cuts through the noise and distractions of our post-modern world, and powerfully communicates the Gospel. We are very excited about how God is using this approach in the Land of Israel.
